Access Co-ordinator and Support Worker Job Specification:
‘Chrimblesense’ Tour 2025
Award-winning children’s theatre charity, Embracing Arts, are seeking an Access Co-ordinator & Rehearsal Support Worker (both roles undertaken by one person) for their annual Christmas for Kids live tour to SEND schools and children’s hospices.
The Access Co-ordinator & Support Worker role requires a creative individual who can apply their knowledge and experience in the rehearsal room to offer creative solutions to embedding access within the show. They will also have the ability to understand individual company members’ experiences and needs during rehearsals - finding solutions to challenges and implementing effective support strategies.
Access Co-ordinator Overview
-
Rehearsal room access consultancy. Including but not limited to:
-
Feeding back to performers on how to create and amplify sensory 1:1 moments with their audience
-
Working with the Director and offering advice on how best to embed access creatively within the show
-
Utilising knowledge of sensory seeking audiences to advocate for the most ideal access offer within the show
-
Delivering training to the cast around sensory engagement techniques, sensory theory and how best to merge character/facilitator
-
Ensuring both touring teams have and understand the importance of the "cosy corner" and that this is ready for tours
-
Offering advice and suggestions to the company on how to ensure access is at the forefront of the performance
-
Administration of access documents - access pack to be circulated to venues including visual stories, introduction to characters and content of performance.

Letter to staff explaining logistics and video introducing characters.
-
Work with Production Team, Marketing Dept and Makaton Consultant to ensure cohesive branding across all access elements.

Attending production meetings to oversee and guide the accessible nature of the show for its audiences.

Weekly check-ins with touring company.
Access Support Worker Overview
-
Advocating for any Neurodivergent company members’ access needs and seeking to implement support for them throughout the project.
-
Support the Director in other ways related to access as requested.
-
Have a strong knowledge on access riders and how to support cast members in ensuring their access needs are met.
-
Oversee company members’ access riders, liaising with Production Manager and Director to implement these before and throughout the contract.

Actively participate in the continuing development of Health & Safety for all company members.

Weekly checkins with touring company.
Required Skills and Qualifications
-
Experience as an access support worker.
-
Experience as an access consultant, offering advice to theatre companies on how to practically make a show more accessible.
-
An in-depth understanding of sensory theatre, the techniques used and the theory of why it's important to our audiences.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
-
Use of Canva online graphic design tool.
-
Strong communication and organisational skills.
-
A commitment to inclusivity and enhancing cultural experiences for diverse audiences.
Working Hours
-
Rehearsals: Monday to Friday from 3rd to 21st November 2025, 9:30am to 5pm at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley.

Advance and during the rehearsal period: attending production meetings and preparation of access documents for venues - at mutually agreeable times.

Weekly one-hour online check-ins with touring company from 24th November to 20th December.

Site visits if required - please note any extra site visit hours, travel and accommodation will be paid for in addition to the fee below.
Fee
£3,000 fee all-inclusive of the above duties unless stipulated otherwise.
