'Dream Team Harry' started our tour on a bright Saturday morning on the 1st December, where we headed off to Wiltshire to our first show at Julia’s House! We were so excited to get started and introduce our friends Harry and Benson (and a few other friends from all over the world) to lots of wonderful children, parents, and staff all over the country. The show at Julia’s House went really well; our highlight was having lots of little helpers onstage with us, dancing to all the Christmas songs!
We then hopped in the car, Rose the Hyundai, and set off to Worcester (where we stayed the night in a cosy little cottage) and then had two fantastic shows the next day at Acorns for the Three Counties and Zoe’s Place in Coventry. The shows were so much fun and we were made to feel so welcome. The show has been written and directed to suit all ages and abilities and so it was wonderful to meet babies and toddlers at Zoe’s Place that were engaged in the show just as much as the older children we met. That night we drove to Birmingham where we hit the Christmas markets! We got an INCREDIBLE veggie roast dinner pie, which was the best thing EVER! And then walked around the markets, drinking hot chocolate and chatting. It was such a fun night! Our team definitely bonded pretty quickly over our love of food!
The morning came and we made our way to two Acorns Hospices. The first in Birmingham and the second in Walsall. Both shows were so much fun and we loved meeting all the families and staff at both hospices. It was a joyful day! On Tuesday we did a morning show at Donna Louise Children’s Hospice where we met some lovely children and even some teenagers. They were all so much fun to perform to and we had lots of laughs with our new friends before and after too. Even 'super cool' teenagers aren’t too grown up for a snowball fight!
On the Wednesday we went to Francis House in Manchester where we were made very welcome and had a fun filled, morning show, then hit the road after lunch on our way to Wales! We arrived at Ty Gobaith and made some wonderful friends, who were so much fun, then we were lucky enough to enjoy the stunning welsh scenery and share a cup of tea and a brownie with the fabulous staff. Our last show of week one, was at Hope House in Shropshire which was a super duper show to end on with lots of smiley faces! Harry and Benson absolutely LOVED meeting everybody and they couldn’t stop chatting about how much fun they had had on the journey back to London! Nine fantastic shows in six days for team Harry!! We had so much fun and couldn’t wait to get back on the road! Hurray!! Lots of love Team Harry! Lucy, Sophie and Peter.
